A “God” Feeling

This week I was in Virginia Beach speaking at Wave Church  with my good friend Steve Kelly. Clay Jones who is our Worship Director  www.twentyfourworship.com  came with me. Wave Church has an incredible young adult ministry called Soul Central and because Clay oversees Clarity our young adult ministry, I wanted him to come with me. Clay is also my future son-in-love because he is marrying my “little Whittle diddle” Whitney.

Whitney and Keela, my oldest daughter, have been living in Miami for the last several months because I wanted to provide them with the opportunity of living together without Sheila or me. I knew the experience would be something they will treasure for the rest of their lives. Because Whitney and Clay are going to be married in May of 2010 and both serve at the church, I wanted Whitney to come with us.

There were two surprises this week: one for Clay and Whitney joining each other for our ministry trip together, and the other was for me when I saw them greet each other.

Clay and I had arrived at Gate B 5 and Whitney was to meet us there because she was flying in from Miami and then joining us on the plane to Virginia Beach.  Before Whitney arrived, Clay said he was going to the restroom.  He was about 50 yards from me when I heard Whitney first, then saw their reunion after being away from each other for several weeks.

What surprised me was that when I heard Whitney’s voice from a distance, I started to cry.  Then I watched from a distance as they embraced. A couple of emotions: my first thought was the joy I felt from just hearing Whitney’s voice. Next, the joy I had knowing I had made this happen and how happy they were to see each other. It was a “God” feeling.  My thoughts were how God must feel, as He watches us get excited to see each other. I really believe that when God sees genuine love between two of His children and that love is expressed, that there is nothing that makes God any happier.  I felt it today…watched from a distance as a father who set up the situation for both Clay and Whitney to enjoy.  Very moving and a true “God” feeling.

Thank You God for the way You set us all up for success and happiness. Help us to seize “God” moments, so we don’t miss “God” feelings!

Thank you for sharing Pastor. I got emotional just reading this blog. It is awesome how God reveals himself and his way of thinking in ways we don’t see coming. Praise the Lord !

What a great natural/supernatural correlation! It truly is wonderful to experience those “God” moments… And our children continue to be our greatest teachers.

Thank you for continually teaching me how to love better and how to see things from God’s prospective. I cannot tell you how much your stories have taught me how to appreciate little moments with our boys & how to love them better.
